We're proud to partner with Ecologi.

We support responsible reforestation, ecosystem restoration, and carbon removal projects worldwide. Every project is rigorously vetted by Ecologi to ensure the right trees are planted in the right places, with local communities, and that carbon removal meets strict quality criteria.

FAQs

Custom Orders

We love creating your unique and individual ideas from scratch! If you'd like to chat about a custom order idea you can get in contact with us via the Custom Order page, or simply contact us on social media.

The Process

Firstly, we chat about your vision. This can be as in depth or as simple as you wish, and how much artistic freedom we get is purely up to you.

Once we're both satisfied that your wants and needs are fulfilled we will quote you a price and timeframe.

You then have the opportunity to place your order if you wish. We require 50% payment to get started, and the rest prior to shipment.

Once placed we get started on the piece and keep you in the loop every step of the way. We will keep you updated on the progress of your piece, and can send through photos if you wish to check in.

Packaging

We pride ourselves on being environmentally conscious with our packaging materials. We do not purchase new plastic packaging.

Your order may be packaged using bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or other plastic materials; however, these are all reused. Unfortunately, many of our suppliers ship materials to us using plastic, and instead of sending these items to landfill, we repurpose them to safely package your order.

This means your package may include a mix of materials, such as reused plastic alongside cardboard and paper-based packaging. While it may not look like fancy branded packaging, it allows us to reduce waste while still ensuring your order is carefully packed and arrives safely.

We hope that when your order arrives, you'll also be able to repurpose some of the packing materials.

Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!

Specimen Grading

All of our specimens are real, and natural variation is to be expected. We assess each insect and give them a grading, which helps to outline any natural imperfections the specimen may have. This can be found in the product description. Grading definitions change per entomologist however the below is the system we use, so you know exactly what you're getting.

Grading Definitions:

A1: As perfect as possible for a natural product

A1-: Generally one tiny imperfection such as very minor scale damage, slight scuffing or a very small scratch.

A-: Some minor damage to the wings or body. This could include flight wear like small scratches, slight scale damage, very small chips or fraying around the edges of the wings.

A2: Significant damage due to flight wear, such as rips or pieces missing from wings, staining or discoloration of the wings or more obvious scale loss.

Please Note: For butterflies, missing or damaged antennae or legs don't result in a lower grade.

It is also standard for Morpho species to be preserved without an abdomen. This prevents major staining on their beautiful blue wings.

If you're ever uncertain about the quality of a specimen please reach out to us via our contact page or social media. We're more than happy to send photos of the exact specimen you'll receive for your approval.

Ethics & Sustainability

Sustainability is very important to us. We have an incredible love for the environment and all the creatures we preserve. To us, sustainability means our practices involving entomology & taxidermy do not negatively impact the environment. We are thoughtful regarding where we source our specimens, and ensure we aren't impacting the natural ecosystem. We believe there is no point in making a life immortal if this puts their existence as a species at risk.

We respect the lives of the specimens we work with & wish to share their beauty, honouring them with immortality.

We delve into th ethics and sustainability of butterfly and insect farming further in our FAQ section.

Monarch Butterflies:

As Monarch Butterflies were declared endangered in 2022, we only source farmed Monarchs. We also occasionally raise our own Monarch butterflies.

Bats:

We do not do any work with bats. Bats are almost impossible to acquire sustainably. They all have been poached from wild populations and cannot reproduce fast enough to counter their many environmental pressures. Bats can be purchased and used legally, however the countries they are sourced from often do not have any laws protecting the species. Unfortunately many bat species' survival is becoming increasingly threatened and the demand for taxidermy bats is only putting more stress on fragile bat populations.

Plastic Use:

We do not purchase any plastic packaging. Any materials like bubble wrap have been reused in an effort to reduce waste. Check out our Packaging section in the FAQs for more information!

Shipping

We ship worldwide from Australia and our standard processing time is 3 business days, but we often ship within 2. Your new items are carefully and securely packaged and sent with tracking.

International orders are handed over to the dominant carrier when they arrive in their destination country. In most cases, a new tracking number is generated by the final carrier.

We don't generally offer express shipping, however, if you need your items urgently or by a specific date, please contact us to discuss express or local pickup options.

At checkout, an estimated arrival date is provided along with the shipping cost, which is determined by the weight of your items. Once your package is with the shipping carrier, we cannot guarantee the arrival date, as although rare, delays can occur.

All orders over $200AUD receive free shipping!
